Following up on a blog post from roughly one year ago, we are continuing to see custody cases involving COVID vaccination of children.

The linked NPR story below highlights how challenging these cases can be – both parents have non-simplistic views on why their children, ages 9 and 11 should or should not receive the COVID vaccinations. What is interesting here is that the children’s pediatricians did not endorse or recommend having the children vaccinated which is considered irregular. The pediatrician in question reportedly said “the CDC recommends it, and there is no medical reason they cannot receive” the COVID vaccine.

Ultimately, the Judge in this case ruled that the children were to receive the vaccine, after accepting evidence from the CDC and from VAERS reporting. The case highlights the need for medical testimony in cases with custody decisions made by separated or divorced parents.
