The battle between entertainer Britney Spears and her father Jamie Spears to end her conservatorship is not over. A judge decided late Wednesday to deny the 39-year-old singer’s request to remove her father as sole conservator of her estate.

The conservatorship, which controls both Spears’ finances and her life, including such personal decisions as whether to remove a birth control device, began in 2008 when the singer was battling mental health issues. Last week, Spears made headlines around the world in a plea to the court to end the conservatorship, explaining how she wanted to own her money and for it all to end.
