David received his B.A. degree from Muhlenberg College in 1960 and his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1963.  His firm merged with Eckell, Sparks in 1971.

Initially, David was a general practitioner and did a great deal of trial work.  Throughout his career he has been involved in many civic and Bar Association activities.  He served as president of the Board of Directors of Delaware County Legal Services.  He was also a part-time instructor at Penn State University. David has been selected to Super Lawyers each consecutive year since 2004.

Over the years, David has narrowed his practice to a concentration in family law.  He has handled literally thousands of cases over the years involving very sophisticated issues and many dealing with substantial assets including professional practices and business enterprises.

David has lectured frequently, not only in Delaware County, but throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  He has spoken on various aspects of family law including the Divorce Code of 1990 with all its amendments.  He has written an article analyzing the Divorce Code which thoroughly and carefully analyzes not only the Divorce Code but the various cases interpreting the Divorce Code in Pennsylvania.  The article has been used as a basis for an annual lecture.

David is an avid tennis player and skier and recently has taken up golf.
He is married and has two children, both of whom are lawyers.

  • “When I was sued for a significant amount of money and assets, I retained Eckell Sparks. They developed a comprehensive litigation strategy to give me the best chance of success. They were easy to get a hold of, fair with billing, and kept me regularly informed and up to date on how my case was proceeding. When we were unable to achieve a fair settlement, my lawyer was confident in taking the case to trial. In the courtroom, they were strong, articulate and persuasive. After two days of trial, we achieved a very favorable verdict and made out even better than our last settlement offer.”

  • “I could not be happier with the experience I had with Eckell Sparks. My attorney walked me through the process of my discrimination suit step by step and held my hand the whole time. I had no prior experience with anything like this and they answered every one of my questions without all the fancy legal jargon. They were always accessible to me whenever I had concerns or thought of something that could be useful. From our first meeting to the last hearing, they were absolutely wonderful. This firm helped me through an awful experience with my previous employer and fought for me and what I deserved to the end. They talked me through every aspect in a way that was comfortable and like talking to an old friend. If I had to do the entire lawsuit over again, I would go with this firm.”

  • “I would feel very confident with this firm’s representation should I have any future matter, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for strong, quality representation.”
