Jonathan Becker is an attorney at Eckell, Sparks, Levy, Auerbach, Monte, Sloane, Matthews & Auslander, P.C., in Media, Pennsylvania. Jonathan graduated with an A.B. in Political Science from Syracuse University, and earned his J.D. from Ohio Northern University College of Law, where he was a member of the Willis Society, the Law Review, and earned Oral Advocate of the Year honors, before receiving his LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law School. Jonathan has been practicing law for over thirty years, working at large firms in Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Virginia, serving as Senior Trust Counsel to Commonwealth Trust Company in Delaware from 2012-2017, and with Eckell Sparks since 2017.
Jonathan’s practice focuses primarily upon the areas of estate planning, estate & trust administration, and complex trust and tax issues, and entails the review, drafting, modification and implementation of overall estate plans, wills, and a wide array of trusts. His experience working in both private practice and with an institutional trustee give him a unique perspective on the resolution of issues arising in complex trust administration and fiduciary matters, and has allowed him the opportunity to work with hundreds of attorneys in crafting appropriate trust language, transactional structures, and practical solutions to tax issues. In addition, Jonathan is experienced in LLC and partnership work, real estate matters, charitable trusts & private foundations, and state and federal income tax matters, including the preparation of federal estate/gift tax returns and complex estate, trust, and individual income tax returns.
Jonathan is admitted to the Bars of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, the District of Columbia, Tax Court, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has been recognized as a Top Attorney (Super Lawyer) in Pennsylvania in the areas of Estate Planning and Probate for the past thirteen years by Philadelphia Magazine, as “Best Tax Attorney” by Main Line Today eight times, and has been a Delaware County Daily Times Readers’ Choice Best Lawyer selection every year that the honor has been bestowed. Jonathan is a past President of the Media Rotary Club, serves on the Board of Family Support Line and the Delaware County Estate Planning Council, and lives in Drexel Hill with his wife Mary Beth and daughter Audrey.
