MATTHEW J. BILKER
Matthew is a Partner at Eckell Sparks in Media, PA., where he focuses on personal injury litigation, general civil litigation and municipal law. He represents victims of nursing home and hospice neglect, automobile accidents, medical malpractice, product liability, and general negligence and is a veteran of countless jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations. Matthew has been recently named to both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, two of the most prestigious trial lawyer organizations in the United States. Membership is limited to attorneys who have achieved million- and multi-million-dollar verdicts, awards, or settlements, with fewer than one percent of lawyers nationwide qualifying.
Matthew joined Eckell Sparks in September of 2013 after finishing a judicial clerkship with the Honorable John P. Capuzzi, Sr., in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas.
Matthew formerly served as an Assistant County Solicitor in Delaware County’s Office of the Solicitor and currently serves as Solicitor for the Marple Township Zoning Hearing Board.
Matthew is a member of both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bars. He has conducted CLEs and seminars on behalf of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the Delaware County Bar Association. He is currently serving on the Executive Board of the Delaware County Bar Association’s Board of Directors.
In 2014, Matthew was appointed to serve on the Board of School Directors for the Marple Newtown School District. He was elected to a four-year term in November of 2015. In 2020, he was elected by his colleagues to serve as President of the Board.
Matthew received his J.D. from the Widener University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude. While at Widener, he served as the Business Editor on Editorial Board of the Widener Law Review and was an active member of the Moe Levine Honor Society for Trial Advocacy. While in law school, Matthew was a certified legal intern with the Office of the District Attorney in Delaware County, where he was able to polish his trial skills in various district courts during preliminary hearings. Matthew completed his undergraduate studies at the Pennsylvania State University, where he majored in Political Science and Journalism.
Matthew lives in Marple Township with his wife, Kelly, and their children, Luke and Emilia.
